Dumb question: clicking on file opens in Wilcom instead of preview panel

Is this a setting w/in Windows that is causing this or something in Wilcom? I suspect it is a Windows thing, since I remember this happening shortly after a Windows update, but I'm not sure how to change it.

When Wilcom is open & I go to the OPEN menu & attempt to open a file by single left clicking the file name to see it in the PREVIEW in the right column, it often opens directly into Wilcom instead of opening the preview pane.

What am I doing wrong or differently than before? I don't recall having this issue before.

Mine behaves as it should be (in preview).
I guess it was a mouse issue.

Hi Pascale,

Happy New Year!

This option is a Windows setting and you can set it by:

1. Open Windows Explore
2. Select the 'View' tab then select 'Options'.
3. In the popup, change the 'Click items as follow' option from Single-click to 'Double-click'.

Hope this solves your issue!

Also, I moved this post to the general EmbroideryStudio Community Self-Help section.

Cheers,

Hi Brenden,
My folders have the same setting as you mentioned above (ie. double click to open).

My problem occurs within Wilcom. When I want to preview the file (when using the OPEN feature w/in Wilcom, I used to click on it to see the preview in the right column. Now, when I click on it, Wilcom opens the emb file. It's not acting the same.

For example, when I hovered over the "Jay Austin" to get a look at it, nothing happened. I single clicked on it and it opened the file. I didn't want to open the file. I didn't use to have this 'problem'.

Do you have any other suggestions you think might help?

Hi Pascale,

Not sure if this will work on your end. Maybe its worth a try.

Can you preview an image? If no:
1. Lets do Import Graphic i.e a .bmp file.
2. Right click on the file and select Properties.
3. Under general tab - in Open with option > Click Change
4. Select Windows Photo Viewer (or Photos) and click Apply

Hope that will work
