Need visual examples of what String Stitch does

Have you guys used the String Stitch Element?

I can't quite visualize what it really achieves .... would anyone be interested in sharing what they've done with this particular stitch type?

My machine didn't particularly like the longer stitch lengths of some of the objects (see #2 in screenshot) - it made clicking noises on the long stitch length.

I also noticed that the 'tear shaped' objects (#3 in screenshots), the first & last stitches were rather long and could easily get snagged. And, the tie-off stitches didn't hold (see #4) and the stitching unraveled.

I'm sure one can probably make adjustments to the settings to alleviate some of the issues I noticed, but this may be an element I hold off on for now.
